Sunday, October 1, 11:00am-12:00pm at Flora Grubb Gardens SF: Lecture (Free, no registration required)

Our own horticulturist and renowned palm tree expert Jason Dewees, author of Designing With Palms, will be giving a series of talks with Cricket Riley, the Landscape Design Services director at the Ruth Bancroft Garden, about growing palm trees in dry gardens.

Together they will delve into the world of captivating palms and the roles that these plants play in climate-resilient gardens. They will discuss the characteristic traits of these plants, including their aesthetic functions, the feelings they can evoke, and the themes they can contribute in a garden space.

Whether you’re a garden enthusiast, landscape designer, or simply intrigued by the beauty of palms, this lecture will provide you with valuable knowledge about the process of planting and designing with palms in a low-water garden.

The lecture at Ruth Bancroft Garden will be preceded by a guided walking tour of the garden’s amazing palm collection. Palms from our own growing grounds at Grubb & Nadler will be available for sale at the RBG nursery as well.
