The Woolly Pocket system is flexible, breathable, and modular. We have the components in stock at the store so you can check them out in person, and they are available in our web shop. They are inexpensive, lightweight, and can go indoors or out. Bonus: They are made out of recycled water bottles.

There is a short how-to video here. If you come in to the shop, we are ever so happy to help you select plants and teach you everything we’ve learned about caring for a wall garden.

Patrick Blanc’s visit

Patrick Blanc dropped by the store the other day! Patrick might be the closest thing the gardening world has to an international superstar. His vertical gardens have inspired the masses and created an eager parade of imitators (such as myself). Patrick is in town working on his fitst US project with Roma Design Group for the Drew School.

Patrick seemed to be leaning towards California natives for the garden. In the hands of a lesser plantsman, this might be a disaster. I had heard that Patrick was a really knowledgeable horticulturalist, and I can confirm this first hand. In fact, I am not sure if I have ever had anyone visit me store and be able to identify so much of what they saw. His horticultural knowledge was mind-boggling. Patrick was a delight, and I cannot wait to see his project completed!

You can create your own vertical garden! We can teach you all you need to know. Woolly Pockets make it easy to create a spectacular vertical garden. Using a single pocket you can create a small display, or cover an entire wall by tiling the pockets together. The pockets work well both indoors and out.

Jim Kumiega created the vertical garden we have hanging here inside the store. This garden has been fantastically successful. Jim can give you all the tips and tricks you need to create your own vertical garden, inside or out, large or small.

Vertical Garden for Shotwell

We designed and installed a vertical garden for Shotwell, a boutique in on Grant Avenue near Sutter Street in Union Square. Go and check it out if you are downtown.

The garden was installed by our own Liam Supple.

Kevin made a new vertical Tillandsia garden (we call it a thigmotrope) that is hanging at the Ritual Coffee Roasters on Valencia Street here in San Francisco.

This garden was the prototype for the installation we did for the Bardessono Hotel. You can read more about it here. Here is the installation at the Bardessono.

New Vertical Garden at The Plant Cafe

Remember the vertical tillandsia garden that Seth, Kevin, and I did for the Bardessono Hotel in Yountville? Well, we recently completed another one for The Plant Cafe Organic on Pier 3 in San Francisco. We haven’t had a chance to take pictures yet, but I found this one on the menu pages.
