Garden designed by Beth Mullins

One of the great things about having this store is the amazing people I get to work with every day. Beth Mullins works here at the FGG a couple of days a week and spends the rest of her time designing gardens. You may have seen one of her gardens in the October issue of Sunset Magazine. Here is another garden Beth designed. WOW. These gorgeous photos are by Mitch Maher.Beth Mullins, Garden Designer

    Lovely textures and colors!
I’m curious about what grass was used in the labyrinth? It’s fantastic!

Beth showed me this garden. Part of its power is that rather than conjuring a lost, wild eden, it renders the space urbane and civilized. And in doing so, it does not err into enclosing the space as just another room of the house, but leaves it open to the sky and trees and weather. She’s succeeded in striking a nice balance between the impulses we in San Francisco have to either fend off the mostly chilly weather with overbuilding or slouch into anti-architectural idioms in our tiny garden spaces.
