Adorable Aeoniums

Aeoniums, with their sweetly symmetrical rosettes, whimsical leggy growth habits, and wide variety of foliage colors and patterns, are so much fun to grow and collect. We've often got dozens in stock here at Flora Grubb Gardens plant store in San Francisco.

Aeonium 'Sunburst,' variegated with dusty rose, butter yellow, and soft mint green, is one of our faves. It loves life here in the Bay. Rosettes can grow to almost 2 feet wide!

Aeonium canariense (above) is another stunner. Its velvety green leaves tend to turn a pretty golden color and gain blush tips if exposed to high sun.

Aeoniums do beautifully in containers and, because of their toughness, they also grow well as companion plants to larger specimens.

A single large sculptural aeonium rosette can make a beautiful statement all on its own, providing contrast to a softly textured garden bed (above).

Or, for a wilder look, various aeonium species can be layered in the garden to great dramatic effect.

We grow these plants ourselves down at Grubb & Nadler in the Rainbow Valley. Every week a fresh crop comes up to SF on our truck, ready for your garden!
